Summary
Safety-critical systems are expected to satisfy a high level of safety. Methods and techniques recommended by standards include hazard and risk analysis, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis). But these well-established methods require to be performed manually, which is time consuming as they couldn't benefit from a tighter coupling with system modeling environments.
We will present the integration of these safety analysis techniques into the model-based system engineering process. We will propose a modeling framework, called ‘Sophia’, for model-based safety analysis that leverages features of SysML modeling language and includes facilities to perform FTA and FMEA.
