To improve treatments’ safety and efficiency, reduce the doses and contribute to new therapies development.
CEA Tech List institute activity on radiations control for health is held by two entities of reference: the Henry-Becquerel National Laboratory (LNHB), national French reference laboratory for metrology in terms of ionizing radiations; and DOSEO platform also unique in France considering its technological equipment for imaging and radiotherapy.
The research is conducted in partnership both with the medical body and the industrial sector.
40 research engineers work on two big topics:
- calibration tools and dose metrology
- modelling and simulation

Dose metrology
List institute can count within its expert laboratories the Henry Becquerel National Laboratory (LNHB), French national laboratory for ionising radiations research. This significant role has been officially assigned to LNHB by the French National Laboratory on Testing and Metrology (LNE – Laboratoire National de métrologie et d’Essais) in charge of French metrology steering and monitoring. Modelling and simulation
In order to master accurately and optimise the dose delivered to the patient, List institute models the complex physical systems used in this field (medical linear accelerators, imaging devices) and the interactions between material and radiation.
