2021 activity report

The year 2021 was marked by a spectacular post-Covid economic recovery. Our year at CEA-List mirrors the dynamic broader context. Over the course of 2021 we seized the many new opportunities that presented themselves, starting new pump-priming research projects and expanding our research and innovation platforms.

We also initiated some major research programs in 2021 like OTPaaS (Edge/Cloud), INCCA (digitalization of aeronautics control), NeVeOS (centralized automotive E/E architectures), JENII (virtual and augmented reality for training and education), and Udd@Orano (digital transformation of tomorrow’s nuclear plants).

The CEA also started three moonshot projects (on an environmental blockchain, a self-learning robot, and a multi-mode environmental monitoring platform). These projects will help fuel high-level scientific research at the institute. Over the next few years, they will result in the development of demonstrator systems showcasing the best digital science and technology coming out of our labs.

Bringing businesses the new technologies they need

Our R&D programs are organized around three main themes: artificial intelligence, digital trust, and the Factory of the Future.

We believe that an open innovation ecosystem is the best way to bring our partners state-of-the-art digital technology. We innovate sustainably and responsibly and transfer new technologies to businesses, including through research with partners from around the globe and involvement in a significant number of multi-partner European research projects each year.
